The central building is an old Istrian house. It is built to exceptional standards, finished in natural materials and furnished with period furniture.
The interior has partly exposed stone walls and wooden beams. The owners have designed it with great attention to detail, ensuring that it is well equipped and comfortable, with personal touches adding to the villa’s character.
The ground floor consists of a large sitting room with attractive stone fireplace. It is separated from the kitchen by a large stone arch, giving the space a special charm. The first floor contains two spacious double bedrooms and a beautifully designed bathroom, all of them with lovely views across the valley to the sea.
The house is surrounded by an extensive garden, providing a perfect setting for soaking up the sun, enjoying the wonderful vista or swimming in the private pool.
The villa is air conditioned in summer, while under-floor central heating provides comfort in the autumn, when first the grapes and then the olives are harvested, both unique experiences.
Springtime has its own charm, with the annual explosion of new life. The surrounding vineyards and olive groves are not just a feast for the eyes; they also produce fine wines and top quality olive oil. There are several wine shops in the vicinity selling local produce and a good restaurant serving local specialities, including fish.
The unspoilt nature of the Dragonja River Valley, a national park, can be seen by bicycle or on foot. The old coastal towns of Koper, Izola and Piran are a mere 10 to 20 km away.
It’s only a good hour by car to Ljubljana or Trieste international airports.
LAVANDA is an ideal place to stay and recuperate from the hustle and bustle of normal daily life.
